Empowering Success in Renewable Energy: SOL POWER’s Sustainable Conduct Programs

In the rapidly evolving renewable energy sector, possessing the right technical skills is just one part of achieving success. With over 30 years of experience in originating and developing energy and environmental programs across U.S. markets, Patrick A. Weller, president of SOL POWER and a City College of New York (CCNY) electrical engineer, understands that the demand for professionals who can balance technical expertise with essential business acumen has never been greater. In response to this critical need, SOL POWER is proud to introduce its Sustainable Conduct program, designed to equip learners with the tools necessary for personal and professional success in the renewable energy landscape.

SOL POWER brings a wealth of credentials to this initiative, including certifications and designations such as US Green Building Council LEED AP, BOMI Real Property Administration, and founding membership in the Equity Eligible Contractor (EEC) Coalition. We are certified installers of Mechatron Gearless Dual Axis Trackers and Tesla’s Solar and Battery Energy Storage systems. Additionally, SOL POWER is an EEC-Certified Approved Vendor (2162) for the Illinois Solar for All (ILSFA) and Illinois Shines programs, holds the ICC Distributed Generation Installer Certification (23-0655), and the ICC Energy Efficiency Measures Installer Certification (24-0418). We are also recognized as certified installers for the ComEd EV Charging Station Network.

Addressing the Skills Gap

Many local graduates from the CEJA Workforce Training Programs and CEJA Regional Hubs face challenges when transitioning into the workforce. While they possess valuable technical skills, they often lack the employability skills, trade knowledge, and business acumen necessary for Day 1 employability. This disconnect can hinder their ability to navigate the complexities of the renewable energy industry, leaving potential talent underutilized.

To bridge this skills gap, SOL POWER’s Sustainable Conduct course provides a structured framework for achieving personal and professional balance, empowering participants to hone their craft while thriving in a competitive job market.

Employability Skills and Mannerisms

A key component of SOL POWER’s Sustainable Conduct program is the focus on essential employability skills and professional mannerisms. Beyond technical knowledge, employers in the renewable energy sector seek individuals who can communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities.

Participants will learn how to present themselves professionally, both in person and online, understanding the importance of first impressions, body language, and active listening. The curriculum also emphasizes teamwork and interpersonal skills, providing strategies for conflict resolution and effective collaboration in diverse work environments. By fostering these essential soft skills, participants will enhance their marketability and readiness for immediate employment.

A Comprehensive Approach to Learning

The Sustainable Conduct program emphasizes developing business acumen based on industry best practices. Participants will engage in a curriculum that incorporates Fortune 100 risk mitigation strategies, ensuring they are equipped to tackle challenges within the renewable energy field. This multifaceted approach ensures that graduates emerge not only as skilled tradespeople but also as well-rounded professionals ready to contribute meaningfully to their teams and communities.

Preparing for Success in Renewable Energy

Complementing the Sustainable Conduct program, SOL POWER’s Solar PV Assessment Services foster a competent, shovel-ready workforce prepared to excel in renewable energy projects. These assessments provide a clear pathway for identifying strengths and areas for improvement, offering tailored training that enhances employability.

By investing in our local workforce through these programs, SOL POWER is committed to developing talent that meets the needs of the renewable energy sector while reinforcing the importance of community investment. Our initiatives aim to cultivate a new generation of professionals ready to lead the charge towards a sustainable energy future.
