SOL POWER MIDWEST Becomes Nation’s First Equity Eligible Contractor-Certified Approved Vendor to Achieve Mechatron Gearless Dual Axis Tracker Certification

Rockford, IL – September 25, 2024 – SOL POWER MIDWEST (SOL POWER) is proud to announce that it has become the nation’s first Equity Eligible Contractor (EEC)-certified Approved Vendor to achieve certification as a Mechatron Gearless Dual Axis Trackers Certified Installer. This certification marks a significant milestone in SOL POWER’s commitment to advancing innovative solar energy solutions in Illinois and beyond.

Mechatron Solar, based in Stockton, CA, is an international leader in commercial and industrial solar project development. The company manufactures unique, patented dual-axis photovoltaic trackers that support up to 90 solar panels each. Their flagship M18KD tracker offers industry-leading energy density and requires the smallest ground footprint, making it ideal for a wide range of terrains and climates, from deserts and snow-heavy regions to challenging slopes and constrained sites like carports and wineries.

Mechatron’s gearless, hydraulic motion drives provide unparalleled rotational accuracy, driven by an advanced astronomical algorithm platform. The M18KD tracker has demonstrated field-proven reliability, achieving 99.97% uptime over the past decade across 90 MW installations in Europe and North America.

Mechatron Solar’s dual-axis trackers, including the gearless azimuth and gearless dual-axis models, deliver superior energy performance with lower operations and maintenance costs compared to other commercial tracking systems. These trackers have been rigorously tested in diverse climate conditions, providing the most efficient solution for photovoltaic installations.

SOL POWER MIDWEST aims to transform Illinois’ Traditional Community Solar and Community-Driven Community Solar markets by promoting the use of Mechatron’s Dual Axis trackers. These advanced systems outperform fixed-tilt and single-axis trackers by capturing more sunlight throughout the day, leading to higher energy yields and stronger performance guarantees.

“Our mission is to commercialize the use of Dual Axis trackers in Illinois, offering a superior alternative to traditional solar technologies. By delivering better performance and efficiency, we hope to foster greater adoption of solar energy across a wide range of communities,” said Patrick A. Weller, president of SOL POWER.

Through this partnership with Mechatron Solar, SOL POWER continues to lead the charge in deploying innovative, high-performance solar solutions that empower communities and enhance Illinois’ renewable energy landscape.
